Glow

There’s nothing like sitting around a campfire chatting with family and/or friends and watching the wood burn.  I love the glow of the coals and the colors of the flames as they leap up into the air.

These four pictures were of a cleansing fire.  We had stored some cabinets in a shed up at our property and they’d become infested with mouse droppings.  They were old, and we decided it was better to just burn them rather than try to get them clean enough to use.

Here we see the glow of a campfire on the trees.

And finally, even though this has nothing to do with campfires, I took it one night on my way home from camping.

Got this in an e-mail.

The Parking Ticket

Working people frequently ask retired people what they do to make their days interesting.

Well, for example, the other day, Marilyn, my wife, and I went downtown and visited a shop.  When we came out, there was a cop writing out a parking ticket. We went up to him and I said, 'Come on, man, how about giving a senior citizen a break?'

He ignored us and continued writing the ticket. I called him an asshole . He glared at me and started writing another ticket for having worn-out tires. So Marilyn called him a s**t head.  He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first. Then he started writing more tickets. This went on for about 20 minutes. The more we abused him, the more tickets he wrote.

Just then our bus arrived, and we got on it and went home.

We try to have a little fun each day now that we're retired. It's important at our age.

First picture of 2012

I took this with my cell phone as we were ringing in the new year, just barely past midnight in Utah.  Not a spectacular picture, but it does capture my first glimpse of 2012.
